Thanksgiving!

To contact us Click HERE
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We split the weekend up with all three sets of parents.
Thursday with Dorsie and Terry for a feast!Friday with my family, we went and watched Wreck it Ralph and played Rook back at the house. Saturday with Layne and Michele for another great meal. Kash gave me my own turkey leg :) And Michele certainly knows how to cook! The night came to an end after poor Roxie threw up all over me.
I only got my camera out on Thursday... enjoy some pictures.

Watching the annual Detroit Lion's game.
The girls cooked while the boys watched football.
And I burnt the bacon :)

We had about an hour before everything was ready, so we took the kids outside to play.

I took the two boys on a drive in the golf cart.
 Time to eat!
 Hudson saying the prayer.
 The boys did the dishes!
Cousin Ivy pushing Ledger.
These three boys are a handful all together!
P.S. I totally chickened out with Black Friday, anyone score big?

Happy Boy

I think it's safe to say our little guy is back. After surgery he got the flu two times, and the past few days we have seen a totally different kid.
He's so happy,and sleeping again.
There was a cupcake sitting on the kitchen table for Pat, and I found him chowing down. I was so excited that he was eating something sweet, I put him in his high chair to finish it.
He ate a couple of M&M's, a bite of a KitKat,  and even tried eating some vegetables the other day. He's been such a picky eater, that we're thrilled he's slowly, very slowly, trying new things.

Love you sledgehammer!

DogTime's Adoptable Dog and Cat of the week (Hershey Kiss & Pumpkin)

To contact us Click HERE
Hershey Kiss is a 2 - 3 year old chocolate and white Cocker Spaniel.

This is what her Foster Mom had to say about her:
She lives up to her name; when you sit down, she comes up to smother you with kisses! Hershey is a friendly, happy, lively, interested, and adorable pup. Hershey loves to run in the yard, and sit on your lap. She is house trained, though she is a submissive wetter, so if you get too excited to see her, she will pee. If you let her get used to the situation before you greet her, she is fine. Hershey is also crate trained.

Hershey entertains herself with stuffed animals, though has trouble distinguishing her toys from the sheets on the couch, socks on the floor, leashes, etc.! She does learn quickly though, and will stop any behavior when told to stop. She walks well on a leash and plays well with cats.

Hershey Kiss would make a wonderful family pet.

Read more about Hershey Kiss here.

The First Born

To contact us Click HERE
This is my firstborn. He's nearly 10. That means I have nearly a decade of parenting under my belt. Which really means nothing because I still feel like I need parented most days. But this handsome fellow....yes, quite handsome right? Well he pretty much knocks our socks off most days. His brothers do too, each in their own way.
Last week he had a large monologue in the school play. He knocked it out of the park. He wasn't even nervous. He hit each line with patience and pause and enthusiasm. A very proud moment for all of us. ~~ Oh...and that coat? His amazing nan sewed that for him just 2 days before his stage appearance.

Recently we also received a letter in the mail stating that this handsome fellow hit the ceiling in all 4 categories of the Duke TIP test. He couldn't have done any better...in all four categories. Incredible.
He's in the midst of busy season with his company and has learned the fine art of delegation to the up and coming ranks. I think he quite likes managing employees.

I could go on for quite a while about this kid. I'm beyond blessed to have spent the past decade with him.
And if you're craving the best marshmallows in the country~ I know where to find them.

SUPERSIZING POVERTY from SumOfUs

McDonald's wages are so low, some of its workers live in homeless shelters.

Workers like Chyna Scott.

Chyna

Fast food workers, including Chyna, are fighting for a living wage. Sign here to support them.

Sign the petition.

Just days after Walmart workers made history with their Black Friday strike, hundreds of workers at McDonald's, Burger King, and other fast food chains have walked off the job in New York City, demanding a living wage and union representation.

Like the Walmart workers who went on strike last week, fast food workers in New York are risking everything to challenge a system that keeps millions in poverty so a few massive corporations can make huge profits. If this strike shows that low-wage workers can fight back and win, it would be a huge step towards creating a more just economy -- and they need all the support they can get.

Click here to sign our petition demanding a living wage for fast food workers.

This strike could change the lives of thousands of workers -- workers like Chyna Scott, who works at a McDonald's in the Bronx. Chyna makes $7.25 an hour, and hasn't been able to find an apartment she can afford, so for the last year, she and her three year-old daughter, Jakiya, have been living in a homeless shelter.

There are 50,000 fast food workers in New York City, making as little as $11,000 a year. And these aren't just teenagers looking for a little spare cash: The typical fast food worker is 28 years old, and many of them have children of their own. Many need public assistance to make ends meet.

Fast food workers are so underpaid that they rely on food stamps, Medicaid, housing vouchers, and other forms of public assistance to make ends meet. That means that, like Walmart, fast food giants like McDonld's and Burger King are costing taxpayers millions every year.

These workers aren't just taking on one company -- they're trying to change a whole industry. Right now, workers are striking at Burger King, Wendy's, KFC, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, Domino's, and McDonald's. Thirty stores have been shut down, and organizers are expecting more to follow suit.

If these workers are going to change the fast food industry, they need all the help they can get, and that's where the SumOfUs.org community comes in. If enough of us raise our voices in support of these workers, all these fast food chains will know that mistreating workers could hurt their bottom lines. And more workers will be likely to join the strike if they know their customers are standing with them.

Click here to sign our petition in support of New York fast food workers.

Farewell JudiBug

To contact us Click HERE
JudiBug has gone to be with Sammy.

Judi was very clear that in lieu of flowers she wanted donations to go to the cat fund (to help with vet costs, feeding and litter costs.) Sir Andy, Shelly &  Sierra are lucky that even though their Mommy has gone to the Rainbow Bridge they has human sisters to care for them so they still has their family

JudiBug did a lot for the cats and dogs in the blogosphere but she is perhaps most famous for hatting cats and dogs. Scylla wanted to share her hatting and we went ahead and included Arty's picture cause she is so cute (Arty is still MIA)  in memory of JudiBug. Every time we sees a hat we thinks of JudiBug.
