We first became aware of Canine Influenza when our Veterinarian diagnosed a case. She was so worried about it that she has created a Sick Patient Entrance (the former Cat Entrance) and a Well Patient Entrance (the former Dog Entrance). The Well Patient Entrance is for pets coming for their semi-annual and annual exams and those who are injured. This was done in an effort to keep pets with communicable diseases like Canine Influenza from coming into contact with healthy pets and infecting them. Our vet is now recommending that all her Canine Clients be vaccinated for Canine Influenza. We are happy to report that Fenris has been vaccinated for Canine Influenza.Signs of the dog flu
The most common sign of dog flu is a soft, wet cough that may last for 3 to 4weeks. Other signs include fever, runny nose, fatigue, and loss of appetite.Like human flu, dog flu can lead to more serious conditions like pneumonia. Up to 8%of dogs that get the flu can die from the infection.
