Ledger refused to eat, or drink for days. We held him down every hour and syringed fluids into his mouth. We syringed Lortab every 4 hours, for 2 weeks straight. And when it got really bad, added ibuprofen. He literally laid on the couch for days and didn't move.

The turbinates caused his nose to bleed for 4-5 days after surgery. Each morning his sheets, clothes, and face would be covered with dried blood, along with my shirts because all he wanted was to be held.
Throughout the first week he would get up and attempt to play, but within a few minutes would usually lay down on the ground and begin to cry. So we would resort to watching Sesame Street or Cars.
Eating was a challenge because he doesn't like sweet things. (I'm hoping this will change) So all the popsicles, ice cream, applesauce or fruit, didn't tempt him. He doesn't like suckers, and wouldn't take the prescribed sucker that deadens the mouth. A few days after surgery, I finally gave him some bread, and he held on to it all day long. The next day, he actually sucked on it, and ate a little. For the rest of the week that is all he would consider putting into his mouth.
Day seven, he ate a bite of eggs, and thinly sliced cheese. I was over the moon!
And on day nine, I couldn't resist seeing his reaction to snow...he wasn't impressed.
Day 10, he found a little energy to play, and actually ate a whole meal. Since then, he's had an incredibly large appetite, bigger than it was before! Yay! And he's slowly attempting new foods, like a cupcake. I was shocked!
At his Dr appointment the Dr. noticed he had thrush, and told me to watch it carefully. It's now day 15 and he's still not sleeping well. He's up at least every two hours, and usually hysterical. We're all a little sleep deprived. But every day he's slowly improving, and I've been so grateful that I've had a little boy to cuddle. Two days ago, I noticed he was breathing through his nose while he drank from his sippy. That makes me sooo happy! I know it will all be worth it, and these three weeks will seem like nothing when looking back, but I wanted to have it recorded for the future.
Thank you to everyone who brought us dinner, treats, or gifts. You really helped us out, and our family is so grateful.
